A really important event in the 2020 protests is the Kenosha shooting. On August 5th Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, fatally shot two men and wounded another man in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The shootings occurred during the protests, riots, and civil unrest that followed the shooting of a black man, Jacob Blake, by a white police officer.
Race was a major theme in US media commentary, even though Rittenhouse and those he shot were all white. To add to this, he was very justifiably protecting himself as the footage later published showed protesters assaulting him with a skateboard deck with Rittenhouse on the ground.
Rittenhouse was armed with an AR-15 style rifle and had joined a group of armed people in Kenosha who said that they were in Kenosha to protect businesses. The left-wing media obviously made Kyle look like a cold-blooded murderer and racist.
